The Johnson Controls 5951J Intelligent Thermal Detector is an addressable plug-in heat detector designed for use with compatible Johnson Controls intelligent fire alarm control panels. The device provides fixed-temperature heat detection using a thermistor-based sensing circuit and communicates its status directly to the control panel through an addressable signaling line circuit (SLC).
The detector operates using analog addressable communication, allowing the fire alarm control panel to monitor detector status and sensitivity continuously. Each detector can be individually addressed using rotary decimal switches, enabling precise identification and maintenance of specific devices within a system.
The detector incorporates FlashScan communication protocol, which improves system response time by enabling grouped polling of devices and rapid identification of detectors that report new status information.
