Description
This addressable heat detector monitors rising air temperature to provide fire detection on systems using the XP95 protocol. It connects to a two-wire loop circuit carrying both data and 17–28 VDC supply, and is classified as an ordinary heat detector by UL. The SA5500-450 is a direct replacement for the discontinued Apollo 55000-450 XP95A Heat Detector.
Temperature sensing is handled by a single NTC thermistor whose output is processed through an analog-to-digital converter and stored by the on-board communications ASIC. When interrogated by the control panel, the detector transmits its current analogue value. At a count of 55 — corresponding to the UL alarm sensitivity level of 135°F — the alarm flag is initiated and the device address is added to the data stream every 32 polling cycles, providing a location-identified alarm from any device on the loop in approximately two seconds.
This detector is well suited for environments that are dirty or smoky under normal operating conditions, including warehouses, loading docks, and parking areas. It shares a common housing profile with the XP95A ionization and optical smoke detectors and features a low air-flow resistance case. Automatic addressing is supported via the XPERT 7 card.
