Description
The Kidde KIR-OSD is an intelligent photoelectric smoke detector designed for use with Kidde addressable fire alarm systems using a Kidde Intelligent Loop controller. The detector communicates with the fire alarm control panel through the system signaling line circuit (SLC) and is intended for indoor fire detection applications in commercial and institutional buildings.
The detector uses multi-criteria optical sensing technology to analyze airborne particles associated with developing fires. Dual optical wavelengths and multiple detection angles allow the detector to differentiate smoke from common nuisance sources. An onboard microprocessor analyzes sensor data and applies digital filtering to reduce unwanted alarms from sources such as cooking particulates and steam.
Addressing is configured using rotary switches on the detector head, allowing installers to set device addresses from 1–125 without programming tools. Continuous self-diagnostics and environmental compensation help maintain detector sensitivity and provide maintenance alerts through the connected control panel.
