The Siemens FDT421 Intelligent Thermal Detector is an addressable heat detector designed for use with Siemens Desigo Fire Safety and FireFinder fire alarm control panels. The device provides advanced heat detection using a microprocessor-controlled thermistor sensor and communicates directly with the control panel through a two-wire signaling line circuit (SLC).
The detector includes seven field-selectable temperature settings ranging from 135°F to 174°F, allowing installers to configure detection parameters based on environmental conditions and application requirements. It can be programmed for either fixed temperature detection or rate-of-rise operation, improving flexibility for different installation environments.
A tri-color LED indicator provides clear device status information with 360° visibility. The LED flashes green during normal operation, yellow when maintenance or replacement is required, and red when the detector enters alarm. The device performs internal diagnostics approximately every 10 seconds to monitor sensor and electronic performance.
The FDT421 also includes built-in ISOtechnology for optional Class-X SLC operation, which improves circuit reliability and fault isolation without requiring additional hardware. The detector installs on compatible Siemens DB-11 series mounting bases and supports a wide range of Siemens addressable devices on the same loop.
