The Viking Model VK482 Recessed Concealed Dry Pendent Sprinkler is designed for unheated areas with concealed pipe systems and finished ceilings such. as vestibules, stadiums, parking garages, and coolers. This Quick Response, Standard Coverage sprinkler has a 5.6 (81) K-factor, and is cULus Listed for both Light and Ordinary Hazard occupancies. The Model VK482’s fusible element can be recessed up to 1/2 in (12 mm) above. the plane of the ceiling to protect it from damage when used in coolers or any unheated area. A two-piece sprinkler/escutcheon design allows sprinkler installation and testing prior to ceiling installation. The escutcheon provides up to 3/4 in (20 mm) of vertical adjustment and can be removed and re-installed, allowing access above removable ceiling panels without shutting down the sprinkler system and removing the sprinkler. The optional insulating boot assembly can be used to satisfy NFPA 13 requirements for sealing around the barrel of a sprinkler when protecting areas below 40°F with a wet pipe system.
