On October 2023, System Sensor announced the newest generation of L-Series audible visible (AV) notification appliances. The new line of products have updated the older Xenon series’ bulbs with new LED lighting technology, which offers an average of 40% lower current draw than xenon. This means that you can enjoy lower power consumption, while still having full access to the full candela range across their lineup of AV products! Other notable features include test ports and a “lower profile,” along with a distinct strobe lens that is now shared by the wall and ceiling devices.
The new LED L-Series features a collection of new 2-wire indoor chimes, strobes, horns, chime strobes, horn strobes, along with a rich collection of custom accessories. With variations for colored lenses, red or white bezels, and standard or compact models, the L-Series features a consistent modern design that complements previous products in the series. The LED L-Series are backwards compatible with the Xenon L-Series, so you can immediately start incorporating the new AV products into your current circuits.
The Xenon L-Series products will be phased out effective December 15th 2023. Additionally, System Sensor plans to introduce a new outdoor/weatherproof L-Series lineup in 2024 to replace the antiquated SpectrAlert Advance Series outdoor AV products, which we look forward to evaluating.
System Sensor has emphasized how the new models allow for more flexibility and simplicity in fire system design and installation. Testing voltage with the new LED L-Series devices is much simpler with the new front-facing diagnostic test point feature. This means you no longer have to unmount the device from the wall or system to perform voltage checks. Moreover, the horn strobes and strobes provide a wide array of tone and candela settings, which are field-selectable with rotary switches on the back of the products.
Like the Xenon L-Series, the horn can reach up to 87 dBA at 16 volts, and has two volume settings for low or high. There is currently no medium setting for volume on the lineup. You can get the full list of specifications and product details on our product pages.
