Description
The General Air Products AMD-1 is an automatic air maintenance device designed to regulate and maintain air pressure within dry pipe sprinkler systems, air-supervised pre-action systems, and dry pilot-actuated deluge systems. The device automatically feeds a controlled volume of compressed air into system piping to maintain the required supervisory pressure.
The AMD-1 utilizes an adjustable pressure regulator to control air supplied from an air compressor receiver tank, plant air system, or other compressed air source. The regulator maintains the desired system pressure within approximately ±1 psi accuracy and allows field adjustment of the outlet pressure to match system requirements.
Air flow through the device is intentionally restricted to prevent high air volume from interfering with proper dry pipe valve operation when a sprinkler activates. The assembly includes valves, fittings, and a pressure regulator, and is factory-tested for operation before shipment. The device is commonly installed in the air supply line feeding the dry pipe valve trim or air-supervised piping system.
