Description

The Protectowire ZB-4-QC-MP is a moisture-resistant zone box designed to house the termination wiring between Protectowire linear heat detectors and copper feed cables in conventional fire alarm detection circuits. It is typically used where Protectowire PHSC or PLR series linear heat detection cable transitions to standard copper wiring connected to the fire alarm control panel.

The enclosure provides a protected location for terminal strip connections and for installation of the end-of-line resistor (ELR) used in a two-wire Class B detection circuit. The zone box allows direct connection of the Protectowire detector cable to the internal terminal strip while maintaining proper strain relief and wiring organization.

The unit is intended to be installed in an accessible location, typically not more than six feet above the floor, to allow inspection and maintenance of circuit connections. The enclosure is moisture-resistant and designed for indoor installations, but it is not recommended for locations exposed to direct sunlight. The device also supports proper bend radius management for Protectowire cable to maintain detector integrity and performance.
