The FSP-951-IV uses photoelectric technology to detect the presence of smoke and sends that signal to the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). The FACP polls the detector approximately every 6 seconds, during which it sends a report to the panel. The FSP-951-IV features a low standby power at 200 uA for one communication. Furthermore, its operating range is 15 to 32 VDC. The device can operate using either Notifier’s older CLIP or their new FlashScan protocol. As such, the FSP-951-IV has historically been more expensive than its FlashScan-only FSP-951 counterparts.
The FSP-951-IV is UL 268 7th edition listed for open air protection, UL 268A listed for duct applications, FM approved, and CSFM listed. As such, it is the ideal detector for both newer Notifier installations and for retrofits for most applications. To add, the FSP-951-IV is both forwards and backwards compatible. In other words, it functions with both the old Notifier CLIP panels, and the newer panels using FlashScan protocol.
